That Fantastic Fanstasia

A PERFECT MARRIAGE OF SOUND AND PICTURE. I revisit an old favorite only to fall in love with it again. Only this time, I fall in love more deeply, more maturely and with far richer understanding and appreciation.

A journey through abstract shapes and color, living broomsticks, ice-skating fairies, dinosoars, centaurs, mythological gods and creatures, dancing mushrooms, Russian plants, twinkle-toed hippopotami and terrifying demons, played against marvelous classical pieces such as Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, all ending in a glorious dusky Ave Maria by Schubert.

Moving sound. Moving picture. Moving me.

Love!

Walt Disney's Fantasia, 1940. Featuring Leopold Stokowski and The Philadelphia Orchestra. Narrated by Deems Taylor.
