A QUICK STROLL OUT OF PALACE HOTEL takes you through Calle del Prado, which towards one direction takes you to the museum, and towards the other, to some quaint and lovely little restaurants and cafes.
Il Caffe Dei Poeti is new, still with faint hints of fresh paint in the air and that feeling of having just come from construction. We stumbled upon it one night and thought it would be great to visit by day with its sunlit interior garden and charming little library.
The locals seemed to prefer the library while we had the garden to ourselves. Food wonderful. Service impeccable. Somewhere in the back of my mind I was waiting for something to go wrong.
The only thing that could have been better was more time to spare. After one too many sobremesa sessions, the holiday had to get going with sights to see and closing times to chase.
Besides, a three-hour lunch is long enough. Isn't it?
