SUMMER CREPT IN through the alleys and the trees, through street corners and subway stairways, through tanned legs and puppy dogs underneath outdoor dining tables, and ever-changing shadows in the long afternoons. The weeks leading up to Jaime's end-of-May birthday mark the beginning of summer; never quite definite but certainly delightful once it's there.
